 About the Speakers:

Jeanette Bax-KurtzJeanette Bax-Kurtz, CPA
Partner and Director of Not-for-Profit and Regulatory Services

Jeanette began her career in public accounting in 1985 and has more than 30 years of experience in assurance services and auditing; risk assessment services; internal control reporting and assessments; and compliance services. She has extensive experience in HUD, A-133/Uniform Guidance, healthcare, and senior housing and communities. Her experience and expertise spans across numerous industries including not-for-profit, construction, real estate and retail.

In addition to her work in audit, tax and consulting, she specializes in financing issues and tax credits. Her depth of experience includes bonds, HUD loans, Federal and State grants, low income housing tax credits (LIHTC), new market tax credits, youth opportunity program credits (YOP), neighborhood assistance programs (NAP) and other credits. Her book of business includes state-wide organizations, nation-wide organizations, and stretches globally into five of the seven continents.

Her focus on highly-regulated industries also makes Jeanette a sought after educator and speaker and frequently teaches courses for the AICPA, conducts seminars for Allinial Global, and is a guest lecturer at various universities and other organizations.

As Senior Manager and the Assistant Director in Mueller Prost's Not-for-Profit and Regulatory Services practice, Karyn brings more than 14 years of experience in public accounting.

Karyn specializes in audits and reviews for not-for-profit organizations, including A-133/Uniform Guidance audits. She has extensive experience with affordable housing projects, senior housing projects and nursing homes funded with tax credit equity, regulatory based/HUD/MHDC loans and grants, and conventional financing.

Karyn also has experience servicing real estate companies, employee benefit plans of not-for-profits, service organizations and closely-held businesses with regulatory requirements.
